Dr Phillip Cockrell BM FRCP PgDip in ClinEd

(Course Leader)

Dr Phillip Cockrell served as a registrar in ITU, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Stroke, Acute and Respiratory Medicine before taking a Consultant post at Queen Alexandra Hospital in 2012. He has since worked as Associate Clinical Director of AMU, Clinical Director of Internal Medicine and Chief of Medicine at Portsmouth University Health Trust, currently working in the Department of Internal Medicine.

Having worked as an associate college tutor at the RBH he quickly developed his role to become more involved in Medical Education, Lecturing and writing text for MRCP revision. He has lectured subjects on the MRCP syllabus for over 15 years.

Following his own experience with post-graduate examinations and having observed a great number of candidates, Phillip felt that there was an absence of systematic guidance on how best to efficiently revise such a vast number of subjects. It was during this time that he developed a unique format to help himself consolidate topics and structure of the the most difficult material into a manageable format - he now deploys this same format for his courses.

His style of teaching is charismatic and calculated, with students and delegates soon finding themselves able to readily cope with topics that once seemed so formidable. The course will cover not only a great number of subjects, but also demonstrates how to be effective in revision and spot patterns that make clinical medicine easy.

We look forward to seeing you there!
